Frequently Asked Questions

Have unanswered questions? We have the answers.

If you have questions in your mind about the product or fertility in general, you’re not alone. We’ve collated a bunch of questions we often get from our customers, so you can have your doubts cleared. Read on.

  • What is ovulation?

Ovulation is the process that usually happens once in every menstrual cycle, when hormone changes trigger the ovary to release an egg. One of the eggs that is contained in your ovaries, grows and matures during the first part of each menstrual cycle, and if a sperm fertilizes the egg, you become pregnant.

  • When does ovulation occur?

Ovulation patterns change for every individual and even every cycle. However, typically it typically happens 12 to 16 days before your next period starts.

  • How will tracking my cycle help me get pregnant?

Tracking your cycle essentially allows you to understand your body better, including fertile days.

  • What are the signs of ovulation?

Not all women notice all signs of ovulation. However, typically there's a change in cervical fluids, abdominal bloating, light spotting, a surge in hormones, etc.

  • Isn’t ovulation generally on the 14th day of the cycle?

That’s mostly a myth. Ovulation depends on many factors like your cycle length, hormone levels, etc., it can’t be generalised.

  • Can I get pregnant after 35?

As a woman grows older, her chances of conceiving diminishes. However, if you maintain overall good health, you can definitely get pregnant.

  • Does ovulation happen only once during a period cycle?

Generally, only one ovulation happens per cycle. You can, however, ovulate two (or more) eggs at the same time. When this happens, there is the potential to conceive fraternal (non-identical) twins if both eggs are fertilized.

  • Will having irregular cycles make it difficult to conceive?

Not at all. Irregular periods makes identifying your exact fertile window a bit difficult, that’s all!

  • If I have a short cycle, when would I ovulate?

Shorter cycles indicate that the cycle is shorter than 21 days. Ovulation dates depend on the exact cycle length and it’s individual for every woman. So if typically ovulation occurs roughly 10-16 days before the next period, for a woman with a shorter cycle, she may ovulate early in the cycle, say on day 7-10.

  • Isn’t discharge a sign of ovulation? Why should I use a device to find out my fertile days?

In a perfect world, the day that your vaginal discharge is the thickest is indicative of ovulation. But this is not always the best way to track ovulation for several reasons - the amount of discharge can’t be accurately measured. What’s more, not all women have prominent signs of ovulation, which is why tracking isn’t as easy and a monitor like Inito can help.

  • Do need to keep my weight in check to get pregnant?

Maintaining an ideal BMI and a good lifestyle is essential to keep hormone levels from fluctuating. And hormone levels have a huge role to play in ovulation, and therefore, the chances of getting pregnant.

  • Can I ovulate more than once a cycle?

A woman should not ovulate more than once during each cycle. This is due to a careful balance of hormones and their levels – it takes just the right timing and release of hormones to bring on the release of a mature egg. Therefore, she cannot get pregnant more than once during a cycle.

Whereas fertile days are all the days during a woman's menstrual cycle when she has the ability to become pregnant if she has sexual intercourse. A woman typically has 6 fertile days in each cycle and she’s at her most fertile on the day of ovulation and the day before.

  • I am always getting high fertility all through my cycle, what does that mean?

This can be an indication of lower levels of Luteinizing Hormones (LH) and high levels of Estrogen (E3G). Don’t worry, it’s normal to have low levels of LH in some cycles. Making some dietary changes can help you to overcome this issue. Please try to take a test next cycle so we can offer you better results.

  • I got my peak fertility today. Do I need to take the next test?

Yes, taking the next test will help us in predicting your fertile days for the next cycle.

  • The app has predicted 6 fertile days but no peak fertility, is that normal?

Sometimes the E3G hormone may have risen much earlier and the LH may not have surged yet. In such cases, the app adds more tests. Once the device detects a sufficient level of LH rise, it gives you peak fertility.

  • How many tests will I need to take in a cycle?

The number of tests given per cycle depends completely upon the cycle length and the hormone levels that are detected.

  • I have peak fertility. Does it mean I have ovulated?

No. When the result is given as peak fertility, it means the LH has risen and ovulation is expected to happen within 24-36 hours.

  • What is the 6th-day reference test?

The 6th-day reference test falls on the 6th day of your cycle. The body's hormone levels are measured on this day. The app basically uses this information to understand how the hormones are increasing and changing as compared to the 6th day and then suggests fertile days.

  • What happens if my cycle is less than 21 days or greater than 45 days?

Please give us a call, we’ll enter your period/cycle details for you in the backend and help you out.

  • Does the reference test make a difference in the sensitivity of the LH rise?

The reference test is mostly used for estrogen level detection. When it comes to LH, knowing the levels via the reference test will help the app predict peak fertility better. If the user has high levels of LH naturally, then the app will take that under consideration when giving peak fertility, or, it may help detect if the user is taking any medication or having problems like an Anovulatory cycle.

  • If the test is taken in the morning and then again in the afternoon, will the result change?

The hormones vary day to day and even on an hourly basis. If low levels of hormones were detected in the morning and the levels went up significantly, the results given may change.

  • When should the test be taken?

Inito sends notifications early in the morning on the days when tests need to be taken. It automatically adds or removed tests depending upon the hormone values that are detected and the results that are given.

  • My high fertile period has started. What should be done?

High fertility is given when the hormone levels have gone up. It is recommended to have sexual contact every alternate day in this period to increase chances of conception.

  • What happens if a test is missed?

To get the best results, it is important to take all the tests with the first urine of the day. If the tests are missed, the app will enable further tests but you might get a lesser number of fertile days or miss Peak Fertility.

  • Can I use a test strip more than once?

Every new test on a new day will need a new strip. The strip should be used only once for the test. If multiple tests are taken with the same strips or if the strip is used later, it may have dried and may give incorrect results.

  • From which date of my cycle, do I have to start taking tests?

We recommend that you take a test from the 6th day of your cycle, so we can track your basic hormone levels so as to predict fertile days.

  • Can I take tests multiple times a day?

We generally suggest that you take a test with the first urine of the day, on the days tests have been recommended by the app.

  • I’ve taken all the tests as instructed by the app, what next?

Sit back and relax. Stay tuned to the app and wait for further instructions.

  • I’m not sure if I took the test right. How do I check?

Please give us a call, our Clinical Support team would be happy to help you.

  • How long does it take for the test results?

Once you take a test and insert the test stip into the monitor, the app will show the results immediately along with our recommendations.

  • Will this work for PCOS/PCOD/irregular cycles?

Yes, it will work provided your cycle length is between 21-45 days.

  • Do I need to check with my gynecologist before I use Inito?

You don’t need to, but you can if you want to. Inito basically helps you identify your fertile days by asking you to take tests that help us observe your hormone levels better.

  • How will the medication taken for Thyroid, Diabetes, PCOS, PCOD, and other diseases affect my testing?

Fertility monitoring tests are based on your hormone levels. During Thyroid, Diabetes, PCOS and PCOD treatment, your hormones tend to change so before using a fertility monitor when on these medications, kindly let us know about it so we can make a note and help you further.

  • I’ve been trying to conceive since the last couple of years, will it work for me?

Of course, it will! However, do give our clinical support team a call so they can understand your case better.

  • Can I try for IUI even when I use Inito?

Inito helps you get pregnant naturally by tracking your hormones. It’s best to try it for at least 2 - 3 cycles. If a couple wants to try for IUI, then it should be a doctor’s recommendation. IUI has a 20% chance of success and the doctor may recommend follicular scans and maybe even medicines before injecting the sperm. The IUI process can be done only once every cycle while Inito will give up to 6 fertile days when intercourse can be done to increase the chances of pregnancy.

  • When should I take my pregnancy test?

You can take your pregnancy test after 6 days from your expected period date. After 14 days, you can go to the Path Lab and ask for a βHCG test. That will help confirm your pregnancy.

  • I used it for a month & didn’t see results?

Since the Inito app works with a predictive algorithm, the more your use it, the better we understand your body and hormone patterns. We recommend that you use the device for at least 6 months to increase your chances of getting pregnant.

  • What if I didn’t get my period? Does it mean I’m pregnant?

If your periods are generally regular, please share your medical history with our Clinical Support team. They will be able to guide you with next steps.

  • What are normal AMH levels? How do they affect conception?

AMH hormone is released by the dormant follicles and is basically an indication of the ovarian reserve. If the hormone is above 5.0ng/ml, one may have PCOS.

  • How do these two hormones work during ovulation?

Estrogen, a key fertility hormone, starts rising 3-4 days before ovulation while LH rises 24-36 hours before ovulation. Tracking and having sexual intercourse on these days will increase your chances of getting pregnant by 89%.

  • Is it still possible to get pregnant even if no contact was maintained on peak fertile day?

If the couple has missed having intercourse on the peak fertile day but had intercourse in their high fertile days, there is still a chance of pregnancy.

  • What are the typical things that affect my test results?

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is key. Make sure you eat well, sleep well and live stress-free. Please read our blog for tips.

  • Do my regular medication have any effect on my results?

Please speak to our Clinical Support team and tell them about the medicines you’re on, so we can advise you further.

  • I think I might be pregnant, what do I do?

That’s great news! Please take a pregnancy test or see your gynecologist to confirm the status.

  • Why is the period cycle important for getting pregnant?

Your exact ovulation dates can vary according to your cycle length, so to find out when you’re most fertile, we ask you to confirm this. To calculate the length, you need to count from the first day of your period to the day before your next period starts.
